This website, Warcraft Roleplay is a fan-made site by Niko Ikory. This website was designed with the intent be a hub for roleplayers in World of Warcraft: Forever.
I was inspired by an old website from one of my oldest servers I played on back during late Burning Crusade to early Cataclysm. This server was known as Earthen Ring. We used to have a community hub known as the Earthen Ring Network where we shared character information, chronicled our stories, and shared our art. This website sadly shuttered, and it was a dagger deep into the heart of the role players who depended upon it. I've always yearned to have it again.
AI Use
I coded huge portions of this site myself. I'm bringing in designer friends to help me with the UX designs, color schemes, and icons. I have utilized Claude AI to help connect some of the features and to keep the code maintained / updated. I used a base CMS system I had for over a decade and have updated it. I wrote all of the SQL statements myself (I work in SQL for a living).
AI was not used for:
- Design Elements
- Icons
- Art
- Color Choices
- Any of the written content
- SQL statements
Tracking
I have taken great care on making this site as efficient as possible. Your data isn't sent to any third-parties. Your data stays within our encrypted database. We basically track history and moderator history for safety.
Monetization
I have no plans to monetize this site. I have a good job. I built this website to be extremely efficient. Fun fact: AI builds are horrible at being efficient. I personally went and narrowed down so many design elements to improve efficiencies. I setup a world wide CDN network to ensure it can load fast anywhere you are in the world. I don't want this site to take up a lot of resources or take forever to load. Which is why our features are simplistic in a way.
The website costs me less then $20 / month to run. I'm not worried.
