Entry 1 (A Student's Woe)

Bandits! I hope they fall into the abyss!
I was on my way home from Thendral Village--what a sorry assignment that was! After collecting windstones for Instructor Aetios I gladly began my trek south. I didn't feel like waiting for a carriage nor anyone else. It was still DAYLIGHT out. But, no, my walk to Valanaar was interrupted by a group of ill-dressed hooligans wielding hammers and axes.
I had no choice but to give up my coin. They took all my coin down to the last bit of copper, my wand and most importantly my amulet. Grandmother gave that to me before she passed. I cannot put a price on it. A frost enchanted crescent moon that HER father crafted.
It's odd that they went off with my amulet. I'm not saying it's not worth anything but exactly what do they intend to do with it? They don't look particularly...talented with magic. Pawn it off to those crazed, lunatic cultists?
Thank the winds that Gustie was spared...not that he witnessed anything. He was snug in my pack during the whole ordeal. And I suppose my spellbooks were also snug and secure. Instructor Aetios would have had my hide if my textbooks were stolen. It's bad enough I missed the last two assignments...
Alas, I'm here in Shen'dar village, recovering and licking my wounds (not literally, a medic is tending to the nasty punch I received).
Hopefully, I can get on my feet again soon. I just want to go home and bury my head under a pillow for the next century or two.
Most importantly, I can't wait to see Elyas...
