Passage to Auberdine

Report

Darnassus, October 15th, Year 25

Sister Rellana has offered to help me pack three times this week. My belongings barely fill one trunk and most of them are books and documentation. I’m half tempted to ask her if she’d like to join me on the mainland with how much interest she’s shown in packing.

I suppose I don't hold it against her. The Temple has been gracious about my departure, but many are starting to let their eagerness for my absence show. My boat was arranged before it was asked for. The novices tending to the lamps no longer avoid my gaze when I pass them and instead happily offer their blessings of a safe journey.

It’s no matter, really. Their tutelage won’t suffer much if I’m gone. There are plenty of capable Sisters in Darnassus, but I fear for their complacency.

The Sentinels’ reports from the mainland grow ever more concerning. Furbolgs growing sick in the head, sightings of robed strangers creating large encampments, and naga terrorizing the shoreline. News and rumors from farther off cannot be ignored either. Sailors arriving on the boat from Menethil Harbor on the far continent are saying that the Scourge threat in their old kingdom worsens by the day.

I do not believe our leadership is taking this threat as seriously as it should be, but I understand that it is still a world away and Kalimdor has her own problems.

But Auberdine first and foremost. I wish to witness the state of Darkshore myself. Not to say I distrust the Sentinels, of course; my skepticism is merely a fault of mine that I’ve come to terms with. A problem cannot be properly fixed through secondhand observation alone.

I’m looking forward to my feet being firmly on Kalimdor again. The boughs of Teldrassil make strange noises at night, especially now when the coastal squalls are seasonally peaking. It would be rather anticlimactic if my boat went down in one of them and I were to drown now, after everything I’ve seen.

Maybe I should have asked for a hippogryph.
