History
A Childhood Behind the City Walls:
Sienna was born and raised within the bustling walls of Stormwind, being the only daughter of a modest family whose lives revolved around the ordinary comforts and responsibilities of city life.
Her father, Thomas Everleigh, worked as a tradesman, spending much of his time restoring damages household furnishing, clocks and other mechanical curiosities that were brought to him by the city's residents. Her mother, Eleanor, earned living as a seamstress and would on occasion accept commissions from wealthier households when presented to her. Neither of Sienna's parents possessed any particularly amazing talents for magic. Although their circumstances were far from luxurious, Sienna never considered her childhood an unhappy one.
The Everleigh family occupied a modest residence near the canals, close enough that the sounds of the Trade District would fill their home more often than not. It was a small home, frequently cluttered with unfinished items in need of repair and sewing supplies scattered about, but it was always warm and welcoming. It's safe to assume that due to this, Sienna got her fascinations from her parents.
Growing up, Sienna was a quiet girl. She wasn't a troublesome child, preferring to occupy herself with books, drawings and various curiosities that occasionally found their way into her father's workshop and by proxy, into her hands. She possessed an inexhaustable curiosity, rarely satisfied with being told how something simply worked. She wanted to understand WHY it worked.
Her father would often find her sitting beneath his workbench, surrounded by little brass gears, bent springs and dismantled mechanisms. She would spend hours examining the pieces to determine how they fit together and what purpose each one served. Unfortunately, putting them back together often proved considerably more difficult than taking them apart, as Sienna often learned.
Despite little incidents, like functioning devices suddenly being rendered functionless and mechanisms curiously ceasing to tick, Sienna was always quick to apologize and eager to help fix them.
The Wonders of the Mage Quarter:
Of all the places within Stormwind, none fascinated Sienna quite as much as the Mage Quarter. During her childhood, she would often accompany her mother through the district while collecting supplies or delivering finished garments to customers. These trips quickly became her favorite part of the week. There was something extraordinary about the place.
The peculiar shops, the curious instruments displayed behind windows, the faintly shimmering enchantments and the robed practitioners who passed through its streets captured her imagination to the fullest.
The shops, in particular, often amazed her with all the strange items the sold. How could a small gemstone produce light without a candle? Why did some objects retain magical properties after their creators had departed? What determined whether an enchantment lasted for several hours or several generations? The adults rarely had satisfactory answers.
Some explained things as 'being the nature of magic', which only drove her curiousity further. As she grew, she began spending increasingly mroe time wandering the district and talking with whoever would listen. She wasn't especially bold about it, having considerable hesitation at times to see if she could get what she sought after.
It was, however, during one such visit that Sienna learned she had the capabilities to practice and study magic. An enchanter had been experimenting with a new device, one that would shine different colors based on your natural magical affinity. Sienna, out of curiousity as expected, waited an hour behind shop-goers until she could finally try. Much to her surprise, it lit up bright and blue, the enchanter quickly taking her to the side with excitement in their voice. This would be the start of her journey, as she became an apprentice.
An Education of Her Own:
Sienna would spend the following years doing menial tasks and learning everything she could, the enchanter soon handing her off to a researcher in the tower. It was here that Sienna began receiving a more structured education in the arcane arts, studying the fundamentals of spellcasting, magical theory, and the delicate manipulation of arcane energies. Although she proved a capable student, her interests often strayed from conventional spellwork toward the study of enchanted artifacts and the intricate workings of magical constructs.
Recognizing her enthusiasm for experimentation, her mentor gradually permitted her to assist with minor research projects, examining magical curiosities, documenting unusual enchantments, and conducting supervised experiments.
Sienna quickly developed a reputation for her meticulous notes, endless questions, and occasional tendency to become so absorbed in her work that she would forget the passing hours. While still an apprentice with much to learn, she found herself increasingly drawn toward the possibilities of arcane research, hoping that one day she might contribute discoveries of her own.
By the age of twenty-three, Sienna was let loose onto the world, with little more than a 'congratulations' and a pat on the back, as she proudly held a researcher's license and badge to freely explore the wonders of magic. Where would she go, now?
