Freene stands tall and proud, a Darkspear Troll. She has light blue skin, sharp amber eyes and wild white hair. She has a curvy, yet somewhat toned figure. Her tusks are short and seem to have been broken off.
Personality
Freen is a happy woman, who carries herself with confidence and speaks with a warmth one would find when resting at a hearth in their home. She is easy to approach, visibly listens and provides any help she can in times of need.
History
The Island Daughter:
Freene was born upon the Darkspear Islands, far from the great civilizations of the Eastern Kingdoms and the troubles of the wider world. Like many of her people, her childhood was spent beneath the shade of tropical trees, along sun-warmed beaches and among the scattered settlements of the Darkspear tribe.
From an early age, Freene displayed a fascination with the natural world and the spiritual traditions of her people. She frequently accompanied the village healers into the jungle, gathering herbs, roots and medicinal flowers while listening to their teachings. She was an inquisitive child, often asking far too many questions for the patience of her elders.
Her interest in healing eventually brought her under the guidance of an elderly witch doctor, a keeper of old traditions who taught her that wounds were not always mended through magic alone. Patience, understanding and a willingness to endure hardship were just as important.
It was through these teachings that Freene first came to know Lukou, the Loa of Regeneration and Pain.
The Teachings of Lukou:
Unlike some of her peers, Freene found little appeal in using spiritual power to inspire fear or assert dominance. She was far more interested in preserving life, tending the sick and easing the suffering of others.
Her devotion to Lukou came from the belief that pain was not merely something to be feared, but something that could accompany recovery and renewal.
Under her mentor's guidance, Freene studied traditional medicine, blessings, protective charms and the spiritual practices of the Darkspear. She also learned the darker aspects of troll magic, understanding that curses, hexes and shadow could serve a purpose when used with care.
Though naturally cheerful and occasionally troublesome, she took her responsibilities seriously. Her mentor often scolded her for making jokes during lessons, to which Freene would insist that laughter was a perfectly respectable medicine.
Over time, she earned recognition as a capable healer, though she never considered her education complete.
The Loss of Home:
Freene was already a grown woman when war reached the Darkspear Islands.
The arrival of foreign sailors, growing hostility from the island's murlocs and the eventual appearance of Thrall's orcs shattered the relative peace she had known.
As violence spread, Freene found herself tending injuries far beyond anything she had encountered during her training. Warriors arrived with grievous wounds, frightened families sought shelter and healers struggled to care for the growing number of wounded.
The death of Chieftain Sen'jin and the destruction of their island home marked a painful turning point in her life.
Freene survived the evacuation, eventually following her people toward the distant shores of Kalimdor. She carried little from her old home beyond her medicinal supplies, a handful of personal belongings and the teachings of her mentor.
The journey taught her something she would never forget: even the strongest people could lose everything, yet still find the strength to begin again.
A Life Upon the Road:
The Darkspear eventually established themselves in Durotar and upon the Echo Isles, though peace remained elusive.
Freene continued practicing her healing arts among her people, offering aid wherever it was needed. Yet she found herself increasingly drawn beyond the settlements, curious about the unfamiliar lands and peoples now surrounding her.
Eventually, she chose to take her work upon the road.
Rather than remain the healer of a single village, Freene became a wandering witch doctor, traveling between settlements, tending injured travelers, gathering unfamiliar medicinal plants and offering blessings to those who sought them.
Her journeys brought her into contact with the other peoples of the Horde, whose customs and beliefs she approached with genuine curiosity.
The Woman She Is Today:
At thirty-five years old, Freene is a warmhearted, spirited and occasionally cheeky witch doctor whose easygoing demeanor often disguises the hardships she has endured.
She possesses a particular fondness for conversation, storytelling and good-natured teasing, frequently using humor to comfort those under her care.
Despite her gentle nature, Freene is no stranger to danger. Her understanding of spiritual magic extends beyond healing, and she is perfectly willing to employ curses, shadow, and protective rituals when circumstances demand them.
Above all, she remains devoted to Lukou and the belief that recovery is among life's most sacred struggles.
Freene has no particular desire for authority, wealth, or recognition. She seeks only to continue her travels, deepen her understanding of the Loa and offer a helping hand wherever the road might carry her.
After all, she has already lost one home.
Rumors
Freene has been seen wandering around the plains of Durotar and into the Barrens lately and even being seen as far as Mulgore.
